The European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) Congress took place from March 30 to Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Vienna. The conference brought together scientists, healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders involved in arrhythmia management from all around the world. PROFID and especially the PROFID EHRA trial had the great opportunity to be presented within several very important sessions and as part of the EHRA stand.
On March 30, 2025, we had a productive and insightful discussion with Prof. Elena Arbelo, MD, PhD, MSc (Hospital Clinic, University of Barcelona – Barcelona, Spain) and Prof. Gerhard Hindricks (Charité University Hospital – Berlin, Germany). The focus was on the role of PROFID EHRA trial in advancing efforts to prevent sudden cardiac death. Prof. Hindricks presented on Risk Prediction for Sudden Cardiac Death and shared valuable insights from both PROFID and the PROFID EHRA trial, providing guidance for the next steps in our work. On Monday, 31st March, meetings with the Steering Committee, National Coordinators , and the Principal Investigators of the PROFID EHRA trial were successfully held. These meetings provided an excellent opportunity to align on the progress of the trial and reinforce the importance of our collective efforts in enhancing patient enrollment.
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the PROFID project and the PROFID EHRA trial were presented during a scientific session focused on the management of ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac death.
The session, which was very well attended, was led by excellent speakers and partners from the PROFID project, with Katja Zeppenfeld (Leiden University Medical Center – Leiden, Netherlands) and Gerhard Hindricks (Charité University Hospital – Berlin, Germany) serving as the chairpersons. The session featured presentations from:
- Bela Merkely (Semmelweis University Heart and Vascular Center – Budapest, Hungary).
- Valentina Kutyifa (University of Rochester – Rochester, United States).
- Paul Zei (Brigham and Women’s Hospital – Boston, United States).
- Jose Luis Merino (La Paz University Hospital – Madrid, Spain).
